Due to Covid regulations, we're waiting until the spring to open our tiny tasting room.  Lots of construction still going on anyway. We're here for the long haul, as our apple trees need time to grow. Drop by the local liquor store to try our cider, and thanks for your patience! Be safe, have fun, wear a mask, and drink BC Farm Crafted Cider!

We are a small, mountainside cidery located in Nelson BC. A boutique cider house, if you will, making cider crafted from apples grown in the Nelson area, as well as from a small orchard in Kelowna. The founder and cidermaker, Chris Schmidt, started Tod Creek Craft Cider in Victoria, then handed those reins over in 2020 to be able to focus on starting Kootenay Cider Works.

We're almost done...construction has been a fun but slow two year process. And with 2.5 acres of apple trees planted to expand our orchard-in-mountains, our cidery will keep growing.

We're excited to be a land-based licensed cider house in Nelson BC, and thanks to the local stores for carrying our cider:

Our two introductory Three Peaks ciders are limited batches, named for the three mountains overlooking the orchard. Made from the apples grown in our small orchard, and from apples collected from our neighbours in the fall of 2019. We collected over 12,000lbs of apples from the back yards of the Nelson area! A big thank you to our neighbours!

Kootenay Three Peaks Apple:

an off-dry, naturally sparkling cider available in 500ml bottles. Aged for 6 months prior to bottling, and made from 100% Nelson area apples.

Kootenay Three Peaks Raspberry:

also off-dry, and very refreshing with the tartness of BC Raspberries, available in 500ml bottles or 30L kegs for our restaurant & pub friends. Also made from 100% Nelson area apples.

Before handing the reins of Tod Creek Ciders orchard over to new owners, our cidermaker Chris made three batches of very limited, and never to be had again, bittersweet ciders. These three ciders are the celebration of seven years of hard work in starting, growing, and struggling with those damn weeds at Tod Creek Cider orchards. The new owners there will have a great selection of bittersweet apples to make some fabulous cider with, and next time you're on the Island, drop by and say hi!
